So…why start a Substack?
We have been growing steadily and figured it’s about time we found a way to keep our fellow Silver Lake Shorties in the loop. Yes, we are a free monthly screening series based in LA. Yes, we are a Non-Profit with a filmmaker grant program, and most recently, a film restoration program. But we have a lot of big ideas and goals to build upon our foundation and this year we are really focused on setting it all into motion. Big things coming!!!

Part of why we’re making this now is also a way to catalogue things as we go along and keep expanding.

Behind the scenes of what we do- Ben Sharpe & Jared Corwin are the creative minds who are responsible for what SLS is today. They have built the SLS organization & community from the ground up with essentially no road map for what we’re doing so it’s been a BIG old scrappy learning experience!
Previews of our Podcast- we will be launching. Hosted by Animator/Writer/All Around Good Boy Mike Manor, it is filmed at our kind & iconic sponsor Starburns industries studios and features a wide variety of independent artists. We have the first few episodes filmed already so keep an eye out in the near future!
